Pure electric vehicle maintenance tips


Normally, the pure electric vehicle maintenance items are inspected for the eight major projects of the charging system, the power battery system, the cooling system, the air conditioning system, the braking system, the steering system, the body part, and the chassis part. Among them, the first thing to check is to check the high voltage harness.

The battery voltage output of a pure electric vehicle is about 200v-360v, so the sealing requirements for high-voltage harnesses are very high. When the vehicle is driven for a long time, the conductivity and insulation of the high-voltage harness may cause problems. Like the fuel system of a conventional vehicle, the quality of the high-voltage harness directly determines whether the vehicle can be used normally, and it also concerns the safety of the vehicle and personnel. Therefore, detecting the high-voltage harness is a top priority when servicing the electric vehicle. When the general staff detects the high-voltage harness, the harness is separated from the power controller first, and then tested by the multimeter probe one by one. If it is within the specified value, it is judged as qualified. However, it is worth noting that most manufacturers have a warranty period of 5 years for high-voltage harnesses.

Second, check the most important part of the electric car - the battery pack. As the most important component of a new energy vehicle, the battery has a high failure rate. According to the vehicle quality complaint data, the complaints about batteries in new energy vehicles accounted for the largest proportion of the total complaints, mainly due to battery failure lights, batteries can’t be charged, and the mileage is seriously insufficient. When we buy an electric car, the most important thing is the battery life and cruising range. Therefore, checking the battery pack is the most important part of all maintenance. The batteries used by domestic auto manufacturers are generally two types, ternary lithium battery and lithium iron phosphate battery. Compared with the former, the latter has a longer life, faster charge and discharge, and higher safety. Usually, the lithium iron phosphate battery can be fully charged and discharged more than 2,000 times. According to the calculation of 200 times a year, the battery can reach a service life of 10 years.


Check the battery pack and the vehicle diagnostic fault is basically the same, link the vehicle to the computer through the data line, and then use the special software to clearly understand the battery voltage, power, temperature, can bus communication status and some other information. If there is a problem with an individual battery, it may affect the working status of the entire battery pack.


The next step is to check the battery coolant and motor coolant. These two coolants are basically the same color as the fuel engine coolant. They are all installed in the cabin container, usually pink or green liquid. During the inspection, it is determined that the vehicle is inspected again in the cold state, so that the height of the page will be more accurate. On the side of the container, the top dead center and the bottom dead center of the liquid level will be identified to ensure that the liquid level is within the middle range of the scale. It stands for normal. If the liquid level is below the bottom dead center scale, check the cooling system and piping. Finally, don't forget that the coolant is replenished to normal height. Finally, the motor coolant and battery inorganic salt coolant should be replaced every 4 years or 100,000 kilometers, whichever comes first.

Presumably, you already know that the maintenance check of other systems is the same as that of the fuel car, so it will not be explained in detail here.

However, it is important to note that the brake fluid and gearbox gear oil should be replaced every 2 years or 40,000 km. The air-conditioning coolant should be replaced with organic acid-type coolant every 4 years or 100,000 km which comes first.
